Overview

Global Language Center (GLC) is a woman-owned small business providing professional language and administrative support services to the U.S. government, commercial, and individual clients worldwide. Founded in 1996, GLC has grown as a result of our excellent performance, care of employees, and in-depth language expertise. We offer instruction in over 70 languages, cultural awareness training, translation, interpretation, curriculum design, digital media editing, evaluation, project management, and administrative support services.

GLC is currently accepting applications for instructor positions in a variety of languages, including:

Responsibilities

  • • Plan and/or conduct one-on-one, small, and/or large group language classes, both in person and remotely, using a wide variety of language teaching methodologies and techniques, stressing speaking, listening comprehension, and reading skills. In most cases, teaching materials will be provided.
  • • Use established training materials and work collaboratively and closely with other instructors.
  • • Provide students with encouragement and constructive feedback.
  • • Apply classroom management techniques to provide a respectful, student-centered environment conducive to learning.
  • • Conduct informal or formal progress evaluations and/or administer weekly quizzes and assessments to evaluate student progress.
  • • Attend meetings as appropriate.
  • • Incorporate the use of instructional technology into the program as appropriate.
  • • As needed, maintain an online classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • • A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching adult learners the foreign language they will be providing in a classroom setting.
  • • BA/BS, MA/MS, or Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree(s) in any field.
  • • A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching foreign language with proficiency-based or task-based curricula.
  • • A minimum of one (1) year of experience administering proficiency-based assessments (i.e., administering ACTFL OPI exams, administering proficiency- or task-based quizzes or weekly assessments as part of a standard language curriculum, serving as a tester or rater for the U.S. government).
  • • A minimum English proficiency level of a 2:2 on the ILR proficiency scale.
  • • Native speaker of designated language.
