Overview

Global Language Center (GLC) is recruiting for a current opening for a Malay Language Temporary Tester with the Directorate of Language Studies (LS) at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (NFATC) in Arlington, Virginia.

The candidate would administer a speaking-only Malay language test in person at NFATC on July 13, 2026 at 8am. The candidate would also attend a virtual refresher training on the testing process on July 10, 2026 from 10am-12pm.

Resumes will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Qualified candidates will be submitted to the NFATC Language School for their final review and selection.

Responsibilities

• • Administer Malay language speaking-only test at NFATC on July 13, 2026 (8am).
• • Attend a virtual refresher training on the testing process on July 10, 2026 (10am-12pm).

Qualifications

• • REQUIRED - Educated native or near-native Malay language proficiency.
• • REQUIRED - English proficiency of 3 or higher (ILR scale) in speaking and reading.
• • Preferred - Native language proficiency of 4 or higher (ILR scale) in speaking.
• • Preferred - Experience conducting proficiency-based tests (e.g., DLAB, ACTFL OPI) in one or more foreign languages tested at NFATC.
• • Preferred - BA/BS, MA/MS or PhD in language testing, evaluation and measurement, educational assessment, applied linguistics, second language acquisition or related field.
• • Preferred - Experience in designing and/or selecting testing materials.
• • Preferred - Experience with online delivery systems used to administer proficiency-based exams.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have native or near-native Malay language proficiency and will also have general professional proficiency (ILR level 3) in English speaking and reading.
